Postnatal Recovery Massage

After bringing your baby into the world, it's common to be caught up in the whirlwind of excitement and lose sight of your own well-being. As a mother, you also need care and attention. A bespoke, specialist healing massage can provide you with much-needed rejuvenation and relaxation as you recover from childbirth. Feeling good about yourself will make it much easier to attend to your baby's needs.

Postnatal massages can be incredibly beneficial in helping new mothers alleviate stress and providing them with nurturing and therapeutic touch, which can have a positive impact on their physical well-being and emotional balance. It's important to ensure that new mothers receive proper support and care, as this can help reduce the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In addition to promoting deep relaxation for emotional restoration, massage addresses physical discomfort, facilitating the healing of sore tissues, tender pelvis, and alleviating tight shoulders related to breastfeeding or baby gazing.

If you have experienced a vaginal delivery, then massage can begin 5 days from the birth of your baby if your condition permits.  Some women may receive treatment days or months after delivery. I recommend postnatal massage as soon as you feel ready following the birth, it will help you to feel well cared for and supported during this intense transition.  I offer personal, compassionate postnatal treatments tailored to your needs for ongoing support.

I also offer postpartum home visits to really encourage you to relax and recover at home. Alternatively, if you prefer to come to me, you are very welcome to bring your baby.  If your baby needs nursing during the massage I support side lying breast feeding on a comfy futon for you both.

Postnatal Recovery Massage

“I was lucky enough to have a massage with Gemma during early labour and it was her words that I replayed over and over in my head, helping me to stay grounded and calm during the later contractions.  I would say I also had the opportunity to meet someone with real integrity, who genuinely walks their talk and who has been an inspiration to me.  I would recommend her to the whole of Norfolk and beyond".
